At AKC, our practice is based on the belief that our patients' needs are of the utmost importance. Our entire team is committed to meeting those needs. We would like to take a moment to let you know how much we appreciate your trusting/considering us with the care of your child. We do our utmost to provide the best care possible. Our philosophy is to provide comprehensive care of the highest quality. To this day we pride ourselves in taking the time not only to educate our patients and provide treatment for today's visit, but to also provide tools for preventative care ensuring a healthy childhood.​

We use holistic/preventative methodology to care for not only today visit, but teaching skills and practices to improve quality of life. Our office uses improved technology to continue to provide up-to-date, evidence based medical care with the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Dr. Argelia Douglas, M.D., F.A.A.P.
Dr. Douglas has been a pediatrician in the Valley since 1995. She received her pediatric training at St Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, Az. She is highly skilled in minor surgical procedures. She advocates wellness for a healthy lifestyle. She is actively involved in the community, providing free medical care to medically underserved areas both in the Valley and Central America.
M. Christina Sosa, RN, F.N.P.
Mrs. Christina Sosa is a Family Nurse Practitioner and the latest addition to our team. She has 15 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. She graduated from UTRGV with a Master of Science in Nursing as a family Nurse Practitioner in 2016, joining our team shortly after. She provides routine diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative care, including physical exams.

Kary Vega, M.D.
Dr. Vega is a pediatrician with 3 years of extensive pediatric training at Florida Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida. She is originally from the Valley and excited to return to her hometown. She is passionate about community health and making a difference in every child’s life. She enjoys caring for children from birth to college and helping patients and families make the best health decisions together.
Iffat Moinuddin, P.A.-C
Mrs. Moinuddin is a Physician Assistant and the top graduate of her class. She was personally trained by Dr. Douglas and is highly recommended. She brings to this practice her intelligence, knowledge, compassionate care and bright personality. She provides routine diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative care, including physical exams. She is also qualified to perform minor procedures.
Deborah de la Rosa, C.P.N.P.

Mrs. de la Rosa has been a pediatric Nurse Practitioner working with Dr. Douglas for the past 12 years. She brings over 25 years of pediatric nursing experience working both in hospital and school settings. She enjoys caring for infants and children of all ages. She is very supportive of children with special healthcare needs and children with school-related concerns.She provides routine diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative care, including physical exams.
Orlando Ochoa, P.A.-C
Orlando Ochoa was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Hammond, Indiana. As a teenager he moved to the Rio Grande Valley with his family where he finished high school and attended the local University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He worked as a Forensic DNA analyst for the Texas Department of Public Safety and was involved in creating the first forensic DNA laboratory in the Rio Grande Valley.
Mr. Ochoa returned to school to pursue his interest in health care and in 2005 graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Physician Assistant program. He has 16 years of pediatric experience and has enjoyed bringing medical care to the medically underserved areas of the Rio Grande Valley.
